About Twist of Dark
Kim is an inspiring and dedicated eclectic artist based in Kent, where she lives with her partner, their son, her in-laws, and three cats. Her creative journey began early in life, growing up on the Isle of Sheppey. As a child, Kim was always passionate about creativity—if she wasn’t drawing, she was writing, sewing, or crafting something with whatever materials she could find. She also developed a deep love for nature and the outdoors, spending countless hours exploring the beach and coastline near her home. These experiences fostered a lifelong connection to the natural world and a fascination with the beauty and mystery of the seaside.

What started as a small venture, born out of her love for art and the natural world, soon expanded into something more. Her fascination with preserving and displaying natural curiosities using resin led to the creation of BlueWave Resin Art, a new avenue where she could explore resin-only pieces that didn’t quite fit within the Fallen Fauna ethos.

Despite BlueWave Resin Art almost not coming into existence due to a challenging incident that impacted her mental health, it ultimately became a beacon of hope and transformation for Kim, or so she thought. This experience gave her a new perspective and direction, allowing her to support and raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention through her art. However, due to the negative events mentioned above, BlueWave was a direction she felt bullied into, which did not truly reflect her artistic identity.

After a period of reflection, this led to a rebrand in August 2024. Now, she proudly presents Twist of Dark, a collection of eclectic art that combines elements from both Fallen Fauna and BlueWave Resin Art, as well as new works that embrace darker and alternative themes. This rebrand allows Kim to fully express her unique style, using a variety of mediums to create art that resonates with her true self.

Balancing her time between two part-time jobs and running her business, Kim continues to attend local craft workshops to expand her skills and enjoy the creative process. She is proud of her less-than-conventional interests and is no longer afraid to share them with others. Through Twist of Dark, Kim not only creates beautiful, thought-provoking works but also advocates for the therapeutic benefits of creative expression, inspiring others to find solace and empowerment in art.
